Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary

A Gospel of Sorts

you are the women who left your homes

you abandoned the endlessness of tradition to join a radical group of misfits trying to figure out a new way of living

I can’t think of anything more inspiring

Four women emerge from the desert, each bearing the same name: Mary. As history folds in on itself, they raise their voices in a story of faith, sacrifice, and rebellion.

Blending ancient scripture with her trademark incisive, contemporary wit, Erin Shields reclaims the stories of four women who stood at the gates of revolution—only to be sidelined by history.

A visceral and lyrical reimagining of the gospels’ most enduring icons, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary interrogates what happens when four women who bore witness to miracles are finally allowed to speak.
